Mena Telecom is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House (KFH) and is a new challenger in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s mobile market. It identified WiMAX as the key way to enter the market and was subsequently awarded one of the two 3.5GHz WiMAX licences. These licences permit fixed and nomadic wireless broadband services and require national population coverage to be achieved within a relatively short timeframe.
They knew the key to the success of this ambitious project was selecting a world-class partner to design and deploy the new network as well as the supporting systems. Its ambitious take on the build, operate and transfer sourcing approach required the new partner to manage the new services, as well as the existing portfolio of fixed line services.
PA was employed to help with the selection process because of PA’s deep technical knowledge of WiMAX, operational experience and track record of sourcing consultancy.
