Helping the US Department of Defense solve strategic challenges

PA Consulting Group supports the US Department of Defense (DoD) with some of its most complex strategic challenges, often leading in the assessment of emerging high-priority issues. Improving performance on major projects and portfolios

  • Helping PEOs and other senior executives with the challenges of cost reduction, strategic risk management, balancing acquisition cost vs
    lifecycle cost, and what-if option analysis on DoD’s largest and most complex projects.  We use strategic project models and other advanced analysis techniques to help managers assess cost and schedule issues early, develop leading indicators and improved metrics, set incentives, align functionality against war-fighter preferences and priorities, and drive rapid replanning efforts.

Aligning investments with the latest strategic objectives and priorities

  • Assessing the alignment of major investments and initiatives against latest DoD priorities, supporting planning efforts (QDRs, TCPs, and other policy and strategic guidance efforts) and identifying how to achieve biggest bang-for-buck given tightening budgets.  We often leverage proprietary frameworks that take into account important interconnections and the range of evolving global threats we face.

Enterprise-wide analysis and strategic option assessment

  • Taking a strategic look at the key drivers and enablers of performance in major enterprises, helping to identify likely ranges of performance and leverage points to improve performance and/or achieve important change.  We take a rigorous approach to assess enterprise risks and develop tailored solutions to help services and agencies improve operations.

Counterinsurgency and strategies for effective ‘whole of government’ approaches to influence unstable regions

  • Developing tailored causal maps of key drivers of stability in regions and countries of interest, drawing on a library of analyses of regions across the world, we help give senior decision makers and their teams a shared ‘big picture view’ and a more structured way to help inform options for intervention.

Developing and improving high-priority emerging technologies

  • Drawing on deep technical expertise from both commercial and military applications, we are expert at identifying technology gaps as well as areas for improvement and fielding teams of specialists who can help implement successful innovative approaches rapidly for critical systems.
