During 2010 we continued to improve the quality and consistency of our training and development and to ensure we share good practice. This means our experts have the most up-to-date knowledge of developments in technology, markets and business practice. As a result, we can understand and respond effectively to clients’ future needs in today’s environment.
Our learning and development programmes include formal training courses, ‘bitesize’ training sessions on topics of interest, and on-the-job training and support. We also provide opportunities to develop specific skills that are in demand from our clients. This includes our partnership with the Lean Enterprise Research Centre at Cardiff Business School, which means, by early 2011, PA will have 75 accredited experts in lean thinking.
The market has also given us the opportunity to recruit and retain a wide range of skilled people who have the world-class capabilities to deliver substantial, sustained improvement in performance for our clients. Over the year we recruited 272 people, both new graduates and experienced professionals with high levels of expertise from diverse business areas.
In addition, we have extended the opportunities for our senior people, experts in their fields, to pass on their knowledge and skills both to our people and to our clients through mentoring and coaching.
The feedback we receive from our assignments underlines how much clients value the range of expertise we bring.
